Cleveland Foundation selected for Knight Foundation Design Lab

We are thrilled to have been selected as one of four community-focused funders to participate in the Knight Foundation Community Information Lab!

A small team at the Cleveland Foundation will soon undergo an 18-month process to study information gaps in our community and find ways to fill them. We were chosen from nearly three dozen applications, representing foundations large and small, rural and urban, with a range of funding priorities, along with Baltimore Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Boulder County and Lancaster County Community Foundation.

This fall, we will begin human-centered design training to identify what sources of information are missing in our community, and find solutions to bridge those gaps.

The Knight Foundation has invested $22 million and partnered with nearly 88 community and place-based funders over the past eight years in an effort to fill information gaps at the local levels– things that help residents better navigate pollution, school systems, public transit, public health, and so on. We at the Cleveland Foundation are looking forward to embracing a human-centered design process to help influence our funding of community priorities.
